Around the turn of the last decade, a flurry of english beat makers were churning out collaborations with vocalists spanning the entire spectrum of the uk music scene. At worst, the outcome sounded played out and repetitive, but more often than not the resulting tracks perfectly represented the delirious excitement of a great summer’s day, a rare meteorological occurrence in any part of the country, from London to Leeds, Birmingham to Brighton.
